Eligibility Requirements

  • Eligible Trident employees may apply for support when they adopt a child under the age of 18
  • Employees must be actively employed or on approved paid or unpaid leave at the time expenses are paid and at the time adoption is finalized
  • If the adoptive parents are both Trident employees, only one employee is eligible for reimbursement per adoption

Trident Seafoods Adoption Assistance Program

Trident reimburses eligible employees for qualified adoption expenses up to $6,000 per finalized adoption, $8,000 for children with special needs. All Trident benefits eligible employees may apply for support under the program when they adopt a child under the age of 18.

How it works
Trident reimburses eligible employees for qualified adoption expenses up to $6,000 per finalized adoption, and $8,000 for children with special needs. Applications for assistance must be submitted no later than 90 days after the official date of the adoption. Employees will receive the reimbursement in their pay. Reimbursements are subject to some taxes. For further details, please review the policy found on this page.

Adoptions qualify under Trident's Paid Parental Leave
Trident Seafoods Paid Parental Leave benefits provide all eligible parents of adopted children 4 weeks of pay at 100%* for bonding leave. Bonding leave must be taken within one year of the adoption. For further details, please refer to Trident's Paid Parental Leave page here.

Adoptions qualify under Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave
Employees working in Washington State may apply for benefits under the Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave (WA-PFML) program for bonding with a new child coming into your family through adoption. You could receive up to 12 weeks during the first 12 months of placement. Under Washington law, Trident Paid Parental Leave is considered “supplemental” and therefore will be “topped off”.
